Boys of HRS ·
Girls of HRS This activity goes on throughout
the year at the end of the day every Wednesday and Thursday. The
purpose of the activity is to get to know other people in choir, and to get
to know different songs and song styles. The commitment for choir is to show up to all of the classes,
to try your hardest to learn the right way to sing the song, and to have fun.
A benefit for the students is to learn about music and to improve singing
skills. Other
benefits for the students are to be in the concerts, and to make new friends
in younger or older grades. |

Choir is
a singing group for 5-8 students that takes place throughout the whole year.
5th and 6th grade students and 7th and 8th
grade students are in separate groups. In choir you learn to: *
read music *
sing in harmony *
work together *
perform at concerts
Mrs. Lenz, our music teacher, directs this activity.
Sometimes a student accompanies the choir on the piano, other times Mrs.
Labat or Mrs. Lenz plays. Students are in three singing groups, soprano,
alto, and tenor. The choir practices in the chapel at school. 5th
and 6th graders practice on Monday and Tuesday, while 7th
and 8th graders practice on Wednesday and Thursday. They perform in a fall concert, a
Christmas concert, and a spring concert. Some of the choir students go to
festivals throughout the year. Students are in choir for a chance to use and show their
singing abilities and to have fun while doing it. If you are in choir, you are expected to learn the music, go to
all practices, perform in concerts, do your best, and have fun. Choir benefits you because it opens you to
music and prepares you for your musical career in the future. |
